I like the way you write. You are quite correct about maintaining your mother tongue and imparting it to your children.
I saw Art Apocalypse in Camden Lock. I loved it! Congratulations to you all on the show.
p.s. There is absofuckinglutey no such thing as further food. Pleased I am not alone in my annoyance at the torture of my mother tongue. All the best M
“Barbarism! Sacrilege! You can’t surrender your gold backed mother tongue for the fiat currency of an English as a Foreign language proficiency certificate!”
You sound like a Welsh language campaigner! That's not a is criticism :)
P.S. Did you know that there are over half a dozen different words in Welsh for that thing which in English is simply called 'a hill'? Perhaps this is why English is known as 'yr iaith fain' - the thin language. And we still refer to the English as Saxons (Saeson).
This is the wild thing! I THINK they reckon it’s acceptable because the phonetic model (as applied to our non PHonetic language) only works with very simple sounds ‘a’ is a as in cAt. Now he is learning ‘ur’ as in ‘further’ as well as ‘u’ as in ‘cup’. Apparently the correct use of the actual words, precision in language, means nothing.
I have at times wondered if the internet has allowed many more people who already had lower levels of literacy to join the public conversation and make it seem like the english language is falling apart.
After experiencing little kids joining nursery without a word of English, as foreign parents we decided not to potentially traumatise our kids in their early days of school life. Becuase of this my wife has been blaming me for convincing her to go with my decision for years. One think I am sure, which is by not speaking my native tongue with my children, I have miscommunicated a lot, many things got mistranslated by them (due to my errors) or got lost in translation.
On another point that Tania made, best way for degeneration of a nation starts with their language. It is the first call of port, then the art will follow, so the majority of population.

Haha I love this! XX
Also in Irish - sassanach, same in Scots I think.
Yes that's true. It's odd why only the English refer to themselves as 'English'. I'll have to look that up some day.
Bring, thing, sing. Eng.
A further indicator we are progressing towards an era of post literacy and further food for thought.
